It’s a bad week for Sally Metcalfe in Coronation Street as, in the midst of attending her pre-trial hearing at court, she is about to come face to face with the passion brewing between her daughter Sophie Webster and her lawyer friend Paula. Paula is here to help Sally with her case but has been distracted of late by her affection for Sophie.
As the pair have embarked on a secret affair, they have decided to keep it from Sally – who has obliviously been trying to set Paula up with Kevin! At the start of a chaotic week, Sally finds a list of witnesses for Duncan’s case that Imran Habeeb has misplaced and is in a dilemma over whether to play ball and hand them back or use them to her advantage.
Nervous for her hearing, Sally later goes in search of Sophie but walks in on her and Paula in each others’ arms. She is horrified and when Paula warns her off calling the witnesses on Imran’s list, Sally responds by sacking her and declaring that she wants neither her or Sophie at court.
At the hearing, Imran is amused to see Sally is representing herself and digs the boot in as he is angry with her for revealing his flings with Leanne and Toyah to the sisters. He tells the judge that she has been harassing witnesses – but will this lead to her facing prison as the evidence against her mounts.
Desperate, Sally phones Sophie and begs her to get Paula back on board while Tim is angrily blaming both Sophie and Imran for what has happened to Sally.
