On today’s This Morning, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford welcomed 83-year-old Dave on who was looking for love. He said he’d like a friendly woman who didn’t smoke, who might like to go out for dinners or on holiday.
Dave lived in the Plymouth area and Eamonn, 58, said distance was no issue when you knew things were right. He immediately launched into a story about wife Ruth, 58, from when they were first dating.
The Northern Irish host said: “When I met Ruth she used to drive she was like a rat up a drainpipe. She used to drive hundreds and hundreds of miles to get up to London to me.
“In the days before mobile phones, she used to get so excited she had to pull into the services to have a wee because she was so excited, didn’t you? Ruth tried to downplay what had happened, saying: “He lives in his own little world, doesn’t he.
But Eamonn was adamant that it was fact, as he went on: “You used to tell me those stories. You’d stop and put your lipstick on, fresh your breath. Ruth then admitted that he was right, but she said: “Yes – but I wasn’t 83.
Hopefully Dave will be able to find someone close by or willing to travel despite their age, unlike Ruth.
