EMMERDALE will see a major character make their long-awaited return to the ITV soap in March, in a surprising move confirmed by producers Laura Shaw and Kate Brooks. What’s more, the arrival of Jessie Grant’s son Billy Fletcher is starting to turn the Dingle family dynamic completely upside down.
So could the return of another important character change everything? If it’s Joe returning from the dead, many viewers will be over the moon.
But it turns out, one villager will actually be heading away from the Yorkshire Dales for a special trip to Northern Ireland.
When the storyline comes to a close, that character could be heading back to the village with another returning face in tow. The new plot will see the character making their way around the country’s capital for a change of pace, and possibly the opportunity to clear their head.
During their journey, the mysterious northerner will come across an old soap favourite, who they will recognise straight away.
This moment will leave the character with some huge questions to answer, and could even see their relationships totally upended.
In a clip posted on the Emmerdale Twitter page, writer Laura said: “In March, we’ve got some special episodes coming up where we go to Belfast. A group of our characters go to Belfast and there is going to be some fun and japes over there.”
She continued: “What we can reveal is maybe they’re going to bump into somebody who was in our village quite a while ago who we’ve not seen for a while.
